About The Classes

The course material applies to all aspects of parenting and all age ranges, although there are some classes that target parents of specific age groups. The course material for those classes are the same; it's the interactive piece among the parents that will differ.

The time in class consists of direct instruction, videotapes featuring Jim Fay, Dr. Foster Cline, and Dr. Charles Fay, small group discussion and in-class exercises along with plenty of opportunities to ask questions.

The course consists of seven different "modules." The topics for each module are:

• Module 1 - Four steps to responsibility and preparing children for the real world,
• Module 2 - Sharing control, opportunities for thinking and decision-making; empathy and consequences,
• Module 3 - Sharing control through choices, choices you can live with, and parent/child patterns,
• Module 4 - Parenting styles and guiding children to solve their own problems,
• Module 5 - Setting limits, thinking words vs. fighting words, and setting enforceable limits,
• Module 6 - Consequences vs. punishments, using empathy, and constructing logical consequences,
• Module 7 - Final thoughts on applying the Love and Logic strategies.
